PSPno!
Heh, funny right? PSPno? Instead of go? Get it? ::sigh:: Anyway, with the new release of the PSPgo, there's a whole crapstorm of games on the PSN now for PSP. I jumped on most of the NIS releases because they're on sale for this week. Namely Prinny and Holy Invasion of Privacy. I'm super pumped that Crush and Daxter are also available, but they will have to wait for a little while. Especially Crush. I got that game from gamefly a long while back and haven't been able to find it since. So thank you PSPgo, you've given me an option to get the games I wanted without having to lug around UMDs. However, not all is good in the world of PSP.

I'll lay it out here, I'm a complete tool and got Sony's Media Go program that lets you download games and such. But, the big thing is that it has a manager to back up all the saves and game files onto your PC. I had backed up stuff before, but this is an itunes like interface that works really well moving files back and forth. Too bad updating it and actually downloading games is such a pain in the ass.

It has the PSN store built in so it's much easier to navigate. After you jump through the hoops of updated the Media Go because it couldn't figure out the internet, you'll then need to update the downloader program. What? Why didn't that update with the main program? Oh, there's a link to a .exe in an error popup? Don't click ok on the error, or you'll miss your chance. Great design. Then after doing that, buying the games, to download the files you need to have your PSP connected. Why? Oh right, the files just get downloaded and moved onto the PSP and then it's up to you to copy it back to the PC after the fact. It's even more fun after all that when it turns out my PSP needs updates too. So, after 20 minutes of fighting with several updates, I'm finally downloading these games.

Something needs to change here. First, it should allow downloads of games directly to the PC without having the PSP connected. I can download movies, games, and music through iTunes without having my iPhone connected. Especially since it's so easy to move the files back onto the PC anyway. Maybe if they didn't allow that, it would make sense. Second, they need to automatically check the PSP's firmware when it's connected and allow updated directly through the Media Go program instead of having to go through the PSP. I mean, we all know the update file is on the internet, why not make it easier?

I know this may seem like a total bitch session, and that's because it is. I really like my PSP. I like the games I have and the games I'm going to have shortly. It's just frustrating when they have so many hurdles to enjoy the new digital PSP library. And it really stands out with all the PSPgo stuff. They really need to clean this stuff up. Until then, here's hoping all that is up to date when I got back to buy Crush.
